THE MAIN DRIVING FORCES OF HUMAN EVOLUTION

THE MAIN DRIVING FORCES OF HUMAN EVOLUTION

1- Habitat Changes: Ecological environment change, climate change and nutritional conditions change (ways of obtaining food and types of food)

2- Skeleton (bone structures) change initiated(triggered) by bipedalism

3- Knowledge: tool use, use and management of fire, language development

LIVING SPACE CHANGES

To explain evolution briefly; We can say that evolution means the formation of a new species. Biology explains the formation of a new species through anagenesis, cladogenesis and allopatric or sympatric ways. The main mechanism for the formation of a new species is the transformation of one species into another as a result of the pressure of changing living conditions. In general, we can explain the formation of all species in this way. Except for the human species ...

In summary, the mechanism is as follows: changing living conditions begin to exert a selection pressure on the population. The population responds adaptively to these pressures and begins to change in accordance with new living conditions. When these changes complete a certain quantitative accumulation, those that adapt well to these changes begin to be selected by the selection mechanism. These selected are individuals with a genetic predisposition to the new conditions. As a result, the genome of these individuals who already have genetic predisposition in the gene pool of the population becomes widespread, and when this dissemination completes a certain quantitative accumulation, that population turns into a new species.

As in all evolutionary processes and all living things, changes in living conditions cause geographical adaptations in the human species. The biological differences resulting from these adaptations can be mistakenly interpreted as human race.

SKELETON (BONE STRUCTURES) CHANGES INITIATED BY BIPEDALISM

6-7 million years ago, due to the formation of the Rift valley in east Africa, the great volcanic movements, earth crust ruptures, serious forest fires, the emergence of groundwater, long rift lakes formed in ground rifts, tree-dwelling primate could  only find food in shallow waters as a result of extraordinary living conditions. (Because lava and volcanic ash must be thought to burn and destroy food stocks in the terrestrial area. We can think of it as heavy snowfall. Heavy snow somewhat limits terrestrial food sources, but does not affect food supplies in lakes and rivers to that extent.) The tree-dwelling primate searched for food in shallow waters. He had to stand on both legs. Modern chimpanzees and other apes stand up as soon as they enter the water. In other words, extraordinary changes in the living space have led to bipedalism. This mechanism is the general speciation mechanism. The world of anthropology tries to make use of classical and general evolutionary mechanisms in order to understand and explain human evolution (human speciation). However, after being bipedal, changes in the skeletal (bone) structure that will last 7 million years began as a natural and physical result of bipedalism. This is what conventional anthropology does not realize, and therefore it is unable to develop a consensus model of human evolution. We can say that the main driving force of human evolution is the change in living conditions as it compels bipedalism. But the decisive motive force, that is, the power that drives man to become intelligent living, is the 7 million-year-long skeletal (bone) changes initiated by bipedalism, which is the result of the qualitative transformation of quantitative changes that lasted 7 million years, producing Homo sapiens. We can observe these changes in skeletal structures from hominid fossils spread over 7 million years. When we became bipedal 7 million years ago, starting from the big toe, kneecap, femoral head, pelvis, rib cage, fingers, skull volume and shape, post canine fossa (depression under our cheekbones) and finally the protrusion on the tip of our lower jaw (chin ), there have been successive changes that lasted 7 million years. The chin at the tip of lower jaw of Homo sapiens, which is found at Cebel Ihud in Morocco and is determined to be 300,000 years old, has not yet formed. This means that the skeletal (bone) structure changes that started 7 million years ago has not yet been completed 300,000 years ago. The main driving force of these skeletal changes is bipedalism, and it happens as required by the laws of nature.

If we briefly refer to these changes starting from the big toe, continuing with the sole of the foot and ending with the protrusion at the tip of our lower jaw (chin):

The big toe, which is necessary for tree life, is no longer necessary and has become adjacent and parallel with the other fingers as it will help in expanding the foot base area. Our foot base areas have expanded. Wide foot pads are necessary for the optimal locomotion of a bipedal creature. Widening and widespread in our knees ... Changing the angle of the femoral head, the pelvis taking the shape of the bowl pelvis, the cylindrical and narrowing of the rib cage, the flattening of the fingers and most importantly, the body upright… The factor that forces all these changes and the verticality of the body are to ensure that the center of gravity projection of the creature remains within the foot base areas.

All these skeletal (bone) structure changes are a mechanical part changes. However, body upright is the turning point in the formation of the human species and is not a mechanical part change but a behavioral change. And the way to human beings started by the body upright. When the body verticality reached a certain angle, the position of the embryo-fetus in the uterus was distorted, the embryo-fetus rolled over(flipped over) 180 degrees, the skull turned to the mother's diaphragm, and the skull of the embryo-fetus had to carry all the internal organs of the mother for 7 months. After the 7th month, since the head returns to the birth canal, this time, the body weight of the embryo-fetus is added to the burden to be carried by the skull, as well as the internal organs of the mother. This obligation to carry a heavy load has changed the shape of the skull to resemble an egg and forced the skull volume to grow. This argument can be tested by implanting a chimpanzee embryo into the woman uterus. Because today's woman has a vertical body and she has completed the journey of reaching the vertical body that humanoids took in 5 million years.

After this mental-flip over, which occurred 2 million years ago, sudden skull (brain) growth started and births began to turn the baby's face towards one leg of the mother. In other words, the baby, who was born facing his mother's stomach, started to be born facing one leg of the mother as a result of these changes in the skeletal structure and body uprightness. As can be seen from the fossil records of hominids, the protrusions on the skulls of the australopithecus robustus and australopithecus boisai, called the sagittal crest, should be thought to result from the difficulty of birth after mental-flip over, rupture of the pubic symphysis and the baby's skull squeezing there. German embryologist named Erich Blechschmidt proposes that the human skull shape is determined by the internal and external vectorial forces acting on the skull during formation in the womb. The reason for skull shape change and volume growth after mental overturning is that these internal and external vectorial forces acting on the skull have changed.

KNOWLEDGE

When the skull (brain) volume reached a certain level after the start of skull enlargement with the mental-flip over, this hominid began to use stone and stick as both a weapon and a tool to influence its prey and predator from afar. When he started to live on land with two legs and lost his ability to climb the tree, which is his best weapon to escape from his predators, he had to use stone and stick as a weapon and tool instead of organic biological weapons in order to continue his life and species. Meanwhile, brain growth continues. While he was using the stone in his hand as a weapon, the moment he started to use the sharp sides of the stone as cutting tools, he started to take the steps of a technological knowledge.

Mechanisms of Knowledge Accumulation

There is an individual who first tries to cut meat or tree branches with the pointed side of the stone in his hand, which he uses as a defense and attack weapon. There is an individual who first thought and tried to tie a stick in one hand to a stone in the other. There is an individual tying a shaped flint to the end of the long stick. We can bring thousands of these examples to the present day. For example; there was no telephone before person inventing the phone… no light bulb before person inventing the light bulb… these examples could be reproduced. In other words, after reaching a certain intelligence potential, people begin to accumulate information, when this knowledge accumulation completes a certain quantitative accumulation, it is synthesized, processed, associated, and emerged as a new information by undergoing qualitative transformation. We can easily say that there is an Einstein at the qualitative transformation point of all these quantitative knowledge. That's why we shouldn't be surprised why Göbeklitepe suddenly appeared. We must understand that it is the result of the quantitative accumulations behind it. We must think of someone (Einstein) who realized that a hard stone was carving and shaping a soft stone.

Management of fire and language are also natural results of this growth in the human brain.

THE PROCESSES AND MECHANİSMS OF HUMAN SPECIATION

A Testable Hypothesis

Human became modern human experiencing three main leaps:

1-  The Leap of bipedalism:
Our common ancestor was a tree dwelling animal 7-8mya. Changing environmental and habitat conditions (great volcanoes and great rift formations in east Africa) forced that primate to hunt and gather their food in shallow water which was lakeside, riverside and swamp. Hunting and gathering foods (water plants, sea food and fresh water food) forced that primate to walk on two feet (selective pressure). During 4-5my.  that australopithecine walked on two feet to find food in shallow waters. That behaviour was not aquatic as whales and dolphins are. Because at nights this australopithecine was climbing up for sleeping on the trees which hadn’t something to eat on them due to volcanic ashes. (3, 4, 5) Australopithecine behaviour was semi-arboreal, semi-aquatic. The bipedalism is one of main leaps in human evolution because the bipedalism drove to vertical body according to the physical laws. The human didn’t become intelligent living being, becoming free handed and using free hands. The hands of chimpanzees and other primates are free. They use their hands they can’t become intelligent living being. The body of australopithecine was in the water while they were foraging, hunting, gathering sea foods during 4-5my. This semi-aquatic semi-arboreal life caused the hair of australopithecine body to lose owing to staying in the water for a long time. The hair of head of australopithecine didn’t lose because the head of australopithecine was outside the water to breath.

2-  The Leap of Mental Overturning:

The embryo’s head of all terrestrial mammalians are faced to birth canal. Our common ancester’s embryo’s head was at the same position as today’s terrestrial mammalian. Nearly 2 mya. australopithecine body gradually became upright and australopithecine embryo gave an adaptive response to that vertical body. This adaptive response was overturning of embryo in accordance with physical laws. As a result of this overturning (1800) the embryo head turned towards mother’s diaphragm. Modern human embryos reverse this overturning on the 7 th month of pregnancy and get ready for birth. This mental overturning triggered skull (brain) growing. The science of embryology shows that embryo’s skull grows, develops and forms according to the vector forces affecting the embryo’s skull from inside and outside in uterus. The embryo overturned nearly 2 mya, when australopithecine body become gradually upright.  As a result of that overturning, the same vector forces as the vector forces affecting modern human embryo skull from inside and outside, affected australopithecine embryo’s skull. (1, 2) This hypothesis can be tested; one chimpanzee embryo can be implanted into modern human uterus. Namely the vector forces affecting human embryo skull from inside and outside can be applied to chimpanzee embryo’s skull (not hybrid, eggs and sperms are belonging to chimpanzee) (5, 6, 7, 8, 9)

3-  The Leap of Mental Threshold:

The mental capacity began to develop when australopithecine’s skull (brain) grew. It is generally accepted that there is a relationship between brain size and mental capacity. In my opinion there is a linear rate between brain size and mental capacity up to mental threshold. That value of threshold may be 650-800 cc. of brain size. Those australopithecines began to use sticks and stones as weapons against their prey and predators after this value of threshold was exceeded. They hunted their prey throwing stones and using long and pointy sticks. They fended off their predators using long and pointy sticks and throwing stones. They wielded those hand stones and pointy sticks, which was kind of weaponry or ammunition. They wielded that weaponry always. As a result of that new behaviour they could enter, encroach to every animal’s habitat including big cats. They colonized the world with their weaponry.
Use of fire and language were the natural results of those 3 main leaps. (10, 11, 12, 13)

DMANİSİ FOSİLLERİNİN ‘’AKIL TAKLASI’’ BAKIŞ AÇISIYLA ANALİZİ

DMANİSİ KAZILARI

Dmanisi Gürcistan’ın başkenti Tiflis’in 85 km. güney batısında yer alan terk edilmiş bir ortaçağ yerleşim yeridir.

Kaldı ki Oliver Cromwell’in (1620-1658) kafatası hacmi 2000cc., Anotale France’ın (1844-1924) kafatası hacmi 1000 cc. dir.

The Three Leaps of the Human Evolution

Humans are the only living being on earth endeavoring in self investigation. Then one can ask if the evolution processes regarding humans are specific to this species only, or not. My answer is “yes”. This species had to experience three consecutive and important leaps before becoming modern human.

Initially the science of Anthropology has intuitively linked the bipedalism of the human species to its intellectual capacity. As the fossils and bones of the Australopithecine started to appear, subsequent work and research continued to support the initial intuitive assumption. The mechanism of evolution for all species can be explained as follows: Small changes in the environment and habitat create selective pressures on the organism, and the organism gives adaptive response to them. As these changes accumulate over a long period of time, speciation happens. This is how science explains the process of evolution. But such an explanation, regarding the evolution of human did not, until now, give satisfactory results. For the following reasons:

Human are different when compared to other species on earth. But the same process of evolution has been assumed to apply for both human and other species. Accordingly, the human lineage separated from a common ancestor about 6 million years ago, and the mechanisms of natural selection resulted in forming the modern human.

Human are very special and very different. These are the only living being on earth endeavoring in self investigation. Then one can ask if the evolution processes regarding human are specific to this species only, or not. My answer is “yes”. This species had to experience three consecutive and important leaps before becoming modern human.

1)  The Leap of Bipedalism

About 6-7 million years ago the lifestyle of a primate living in the equatorial forests of eastern Africa was disrupted and changed drastically due to rift formation. As a result of rifts and plateau formations several volcanic eruptions created wildfires that carbonized the trees on which this primate was living. Thus the primate had to abandon the carbonized trees. Since no food was available in this burned out region the primate was obliged to search food in the shallow waters. In order to search for food in water the primate had to stand on two legs. This primate, for about 4 million years, hunted and gathered food in shallow waters during daytime and during nighttime slept on carbonized trees.

Such a different lifestyle transformed the primate to adopt an erected posture and bipedal locomotion. These transformations do not stop until the biological architecture and kinematic functions of the body come to stabilize in the most economical posture. The final stage of this transformation is when the body reaches the form of a modern human.

If, for example, the process towards becoming modern human stopped at some point in between these 6 million years and its genetic formation came to halt, the species could not continue to survive with its partially transformed biological architecture. This is because the locomotion of such a living being would not be stable and balanced. Especially, when it comes to run, the body would not keep its balance and would fall. No species could be able to survive and keep existing with such a body. This is why the required transformation towards the modern human body posture kept its course.

All variants of hominid types encountered up to now are transitive variations towards the modern human. They are not basically different species (Kaynak 2012, 2013). The rift and plateau formation started from the north and in time advanced towards the south. This may be why different primate groups have been forced to adopt bipedal locomotion over different periods of time. This is also why they were in different stages of the journey towards the modern human and were considered to be different species. In spite of defining the fossils until about two million years from present as being Australopithecine and as being Homo from that time on, they are not different species but are transitive variants on the journey towards becoming modern human.

2)    The Leap of Mental Overturning

When about 2 million years ago the body erection reached a certain angle, the embryo made an adaptive response in accordance with this vertical body posture. While previously the embryo attached its placenta to the abdominal region, it started to attach the placenta to the dorsal side of the erected mother. Previously the head of the embryo was formed towards the birth canal, but now it started to be formed towards the mother’s diaphragm.
Modern human embryos correct this “Mental Overturning” which happened about 2 million years ago by turning towards the birth canal at the seventh month of the pregnancy, and preparing for birth. This is the mental overturning that started the growth of the cranium as well as the brain.

3)     The Leap of Mental Threshold

The present day chimp, with its 350 cc brain can tear away a tree branch and attack its enemies with it. It can also pick up a stone and throw it to its enemy. When the predator jaguar approaches Capuchin monkeys of the Brazilian forests, they climb the cliffs and roll down an avalanche of rocks and stones, forcing the jaguar to retreat. These capuchin monkeys can also make use of stones in a sophisticated manner in order to break coconuts. The chimps can also make use of a stone for cracking fruit seeds.

In a way, both primates use the stone as a tool as well as a weapon. Chimps make use of thin twigs for hunting termites and collect honey from beehives. If a chimp with its 350 cc brain can do such things, one should wonder what its capabilities would be, if it had a 500 cc brain.

After chasing its enemy, the chimp throws the stick and does not say to itself: “This stick has served me effectively; I better keep it for another occasion”. If the chimp had a brain of 500 cc, would it say: “I better keep this stick and even improve it”. The chimp may not think so with 500 cc brain, not even with a 550 cc or even a 600 cc brain. But there will be a time and a brain capacity that such a thought will occur.

This is the critical point which I have labeled as the Mental Threshold. Once this mental threshold was transcended, the hominid that held a stone in one hand and a stick in the other; had the courage to intrude into the hunting zone of any animal including the worst predator.

When it reached the capacity to influence his prey as well as his predator with the help of sticks and stones, the hominid departed from the rift in order to conquer the world. After the mental threshold happened the hominid became cognizant of his nakedness, realized his selfness and came to understand that sticks and stones could be used as weapons.

The human mind is the result of the incredible adaptive responds given by the embryo to the vertical body posture.
