Mind is the most important and effectual factor (parameter) to survive. All living being including plants are under selective pressure of having mind. The reason of human intelligence is ''Mentis Eversionis'' not selective pressure to be intelligent.

BIPEDALISM
If bipedalism had general selective advantages, we would have seen a lot of quadruped evolved or evolving to bipedalism. Bipedalism is an extraordinary adaptive response to sudden, extraordinary environmental changes.
